Stimulus packages, government spending, and other tidbits.

The big news today is that Trump has stopped negotiations on a stimulus package with Pelosi. If your not familiar with story, here are links to the CNN story and the Fox News story, pick your flavor of kool aid. Now I could go into the whole he said, she said drama and whose fault is it and all that bullshit, but we are missing the bigger picture and no one is talking about it. The United States of America is bankrupt. We (the collective we) have no money. Picture this, a husband and wife are in the driveway of their house arguing. Behind them, the sheriff is changing the locks on the door and posting a foreclosure notice, the tow truck is in the driveway repossessing the cars, and the baby is crying because they have no formula. You ask the couple what they are arguing about and the husband replies "I want to donate $5,000 dollars to St. Jude, but she wants to donate $5,100." It's absolutely ridiculous. This is what our government is doing. The national debt is currently 27 trillion and climbing per usdebtclock.org. Current tax revenue per year is roughly 3 trillion. That means to pay the national debt the US government would have to stop paying all other expenses for 9 years. For this year alone, the US is currently 4 trillion dollars short. Where do these idiots in Washington think the money is going to come from? Just print more? That has worked well for Germany, The Soviet Union, and The Confederate States of America to name a few. In post WWI Germany, the paper money was so worthless it was cheaper to burn money than buy wood. Everyone is upset about climate change and economic recovery and racial justice and all these things they want the government to do. If we don't start worrying about the money, there will be no government to address these issues. Do you think maybe I'm exaggerating? Or maybe overreacting? Ask the Soviet Union how they solved their inflation problem. (Hint: You can't because it no longer exists) Study how Germany recovered. (Hint: It was Hitler). The lessons are everywhere. You cannot sustain a government, business, or household if you consistently have 50%  more money going out than coming in. You worried about what kind of climate our grandkids will inherit? Probably should make sure there is going to be a government to do something about the climate first. Our current track is unsustainable and no one wants to talk about it. I have emailed Senator Ernst and she has no answer. No one does. If you think you do let me know because I don't. My overall point is stop being angry about whatever CNN or Fox News tells you too and start taking the time to read a little bit and be a little smarter and start demanding accountability from your elected representatives. You can find contact information here. This will give you the direct line to their office. You probably won't get to talk them directly, but when I called my 3 (2 senators and a congressman) I got two live people and 1 answering machine. I encourage everyone to stop being a Twitter warrior and call the people who make these decisions. Demand accountability, make your voice heard, and most importantly get out and vote. I don't care who for, just vote. It's your right and your loss if you don't. Stay safe everyone and please, for the love of all that you consider sacred, be smarter than the media wants you to be.

EXTRA NOTES

Two quick things I'm going to tack onto the end here. First, Biden said that if he is elected, and the Supreme Court overturns Roe v Wade, he will pass a law reinstating Roe v Wade. I'm not going to argue the right or wrong of Roe v Wade, just going to point out the fundamental problem with this plan. If Roe v Wade is ruled unconstitutional, than any law passed by the federal government that reinstates Roe v Wade is also unconstitutional. Someone needs to explain this to Biden because this statement make him look dumb. Second, Trump said people need to not be afraid of the virus. This was a bad choice of words. I understand the overall point he was trying to make but, like several other times in last 6 months of this 15 day shutdown, he did a terrible job of explaining himself. Your the President of the United States of America. Do better.
