Pete Thamel is wrong. We are playing football.

I was scrolling the socials this evening when I came across this piece of garbage. Pete Thamel attempting to cash in on the coronavirus with some fear-mongering bullshit. Ol' Pete coming with the hot takes and good sources obviously knows more than you and me, right? He starts us off with a bang.
I have no idea what he is talking about with MLS. Haven't heard anything. Pete can have this one. Is MLB having hiccups? Yes. Is the season happening? Yes. Also, the Chicago Cubs currently have zero positive tests. Pete won't tell you that because it doesn't fit his bullshit narrative. He is just going to focus on all the bad news and none of the good.
Pete dropping bombs here. It will be a year before we have football per.... um.... I don't know who said it because he has no source. This is the same lazy bullshit reporting that the New York Times uses to write hit pieces. Pete doesn't have a source. He has an off the record conversation discussing worst case scenarios and cherry picks a statement to support his position. Don't believe me? Ask the source. Wait, you can't because Pete couldn't find a single soul in all of college football to go on record to support this story.
Again, check the source. There isn't one because no one thinks this right now. High ranking official? Probably got the back up line judge for Ball State to give him a quote and that guy wouldn't even go on record. No one playing football? I refuse to believe it without a source.
The only thing in this whole article that is sourced. Luckily for us, there are numbers published by the CDC weekly that anyone can look at instead of relying on Pete's cherry picked numbers. The following is all from the CDC.
Hospitalization is at 1.07%. That is good news. Positive tests are up, hospitalization still low.
Mortality is down and has been declining for almost three months. The mortality rate for COVID-19, flu, and pneumonia combined is too low to be considered an epidemic. Pete won't tell you that because it doesn't fit his story. All bias, no facts is how Pete does news. Fuck this guy.
I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but who said this? I vote the strength/academic coach for lacrosse at Rutgers. Prove me wrong. You can't because Pete couldn't find a single person to go on record. He just makes up or cherry picks unsourced statements to support this bullshit so called "reporting".
So, according to Pete, there is a Power 5 coach that thinks that the NCAA is not properly protecting their students and the only person he will tell is Pete at Yahoo anonymously? I can't speak for all coaches, but best believe if Coach Kirk thought the students were unsafe there wouldn't be practice. NCAA isn't NFL where you have to worry about being black balled for stepping out of line. If there was a program that felt they were endangering the students we would know. It wouldn't be an unsourced quote from Pete either, it would be a front page headline with names and on the record statements.
This is the last one, I promise. Who said this? Was it Nick Saban? Was it the assistant secretary to the assistant AD at Kansas State? No one knows because the coward Pete can't get anyone to go on record so he makes shit up. Don't believe me? Ask the source. You can't because Pete is a lazy reporter that cant be bothered with facts.
Keep the faith people. The rona is going away. We will play football. Stay safe, wash yer hands, don't watch the news, and we can all make fun of Pete Thamel on Twitter when we watch the first kickoff this fall.

P.S. My tech guy figured out how to import screen shots so gonna give him love this blog
