Javy Baez ranked #13 SS by Fangraphs

Baseball is back everybody. Cubs vs. White Sox on ESPN Sunday night baseball in 2 days. Now, let the arguments commence.
Fangraph released a ranking of shortstops and put El Mago, the King, at number 13. They seriously think there are 12 people better than Javy at SS. They are wrong. I then realized I was biased and should take a step back. So I did. (At this point your author drank some Busch Light). After reconsideration, Fangraphs is still wrong. Javy is Top 5 at worst. I would say 1, but I am biased and adult enough to realize I am biased, so Top 5. Fangraphs is a sabremetric site, so I looked at some stats they had figured and compared Javy to the top 5. We gonna look at Batting line, WAR/BAT, and DRS.
Batting Line. AVG/OBP/SLG
Lindor, CLE .289/.353/.529
Correa, HOU .270/.356/.503
Simien, OAK .271/.347/.414
Bogaerts, BOS .290/.363/.501
Seager, LAD .278/.344/.475
Baez, CHC .273/.312/.510
The biggest knock on Baez was his hitting. That's the weak spot per Fangraphs.
They are not entirely wrong, but not right either. His average is ahead of two of the top 5, and his slugging is 2nd. The OBP hurts, but Javy is a go big or go home guy and we love him. Even with the low OBP, he obviously belongs Top 5.
WAR/BAT
Lindor 2.3/7.4
Correa 1.7/7.8
Simien 1.6/5.9
Bogaerts 1.6/6.9
Seager 1.4/4.1
Baez 1.3/2.2
This category is definitely Javy's weak spot. My biggest beef is that the WAR is calculated against the next guy up and Nico Hoerner is easily the best #2 out of these 6. That results in Javy's WAR being lower because Nico is better.
DRS
DRS is defensive run saved. Basically, how many plays did the player make that prevented runs from scoring that should of. This doesn't factor in easy outs or routine plays. This stat is when the player out performed league average and saved a run.
Lindor 11
Correa 7
Simien 12
Bogaertz -14
Seager 2
Baez 26
I will say it again for the people in the back.
Baez 26.
The fact that Baez outperformed the number 1 SS on this list by almost triple and isn't top 5 is a fucking travesty. Bogaertz managed a negative 14 and is somehow ranked 9 spots ahead of El Mago. Seager had 2, 24 less than Javy, and his 2 tenths advantage in WAR puts him 8 ahead of Javy. That. Is. Bullshit.
Intangibles
I know I said three areas at the beginning, but I feel this should be addressed as well. Fangraphs will ignore this because they deal exclusively with metrics. The energy Javy brings to a team can't be measured in a metric. The number of amazing, acrobatic slides and tags he makes is not a quantifiable number. He adds so much to the team just by being on the field and being himself. Javier Baez, El Mago, deserves to be in the top 5 of any shortstop list and should be in the discussion for number 1. Stay safe everyone and baseball is back.
