No one knows shit about fuck. Pt 5.

Welcome back to part 5 of the series that I thought I was done with but our lovely internet and news media geniuses have risen from the ashes once again and blessed us with great content. First off, this lovely meme that has been circulating the internet in various forms. Here is an example,

The reason that both masks and social distancing are both reccomended is because no one knows what works. We have better ideas than we did a month ago when I wrote part 4 of thos series, but we still don't know. We can see from the chart I shared yesterday that these measures are helping but no one knows what works and what doesn't for sure.

The businesses closed is because large groups of people in one place, regardless of the average IQ of the group, are stupid. Need proof? Walk through a college tailgate lot or watch the stands at a Carver Hawkeye basketball game. That being said, more things need to be open with restrictions because it is not a joke that the economy has the potential to kill more than the virus, but be smart about it. Find the middle ground and quit posting inaccurate shit that sounds good because it fits what you want to believe. Question everything. Last, the whole voting vs groceries is a flawed argument. They are not the same thing. If you want to make the argument that we can safely vote at polling locations I will listen, but don't compare it to groceries. Just stop. In fact, just stop sharing unhelpful shit that doesn't make sense. There is a middle ground where you can be concerned about government overreach without jumping whole horse on the crazy train and claiming it was never about the virus automatically means you lose the argument. I'm toying with the idea of a blog about overreach bit that's for another day. 

Second, our good friends at CNN strike again with another example of made up shit being published as news. I apoligize to anyone reading this and my other blogs that likes CNN but they have been making it so easy lately. I will not write a blog mocking CNN for being biased without including Fox News, but I will write a blog about made up "opinion" being published as news. This gem was either second or third on the left hand side of the webite today. It's a great doomsday piece about how a second spike COULD cause the curve to become unflattened. (I think unflattened is another new word I made up.) This article is heavy on guesswork and short on facts. My biggest problem is that it is, at best, an opinion piece that they called news and at worst, a hit piece written by someone with an agenda. Second problem is this lovely quote here:

Another advantage for the virus -- it's likely to surge again during flu season, so throughout the fall and winter. And with a cadre of respiratory viruses circulating at the same time, the odds you end up infected with one of them are increasingly likely, Kelen said.

If you click on the link that CNN cites in this quote you find an article explaining that the coronavirus is more contagious than the flu. There is absolutely nothing about a fall resurgence. Not even a hint of a theory about why it will resurge, let alone any facts or models (which have been consistently inaccurate) that support this claim. They write an article full of conjecture citing articles that don't support the claims they are making and expect everyone to just shut up and accept it. No one knows shit about fuck.

Is the rona real? Yes. Was quarantine neccessary to some extent? Yes. Is the government overreacting and overreaching to some extent? Yes. Is the media, both right and left, sensationalizing the news to fit their agenda? Yes. Do we all need to calm down and use some common sense? Yes. 

We are beating this thing people, despite CNN saying we aren't and Fox News claiming it's all fake, we are winning. Don't watch the news, question everything, wash your hands, and listen to the CDC because the Hawks are back, baby, and please for the love of all that is holy don't ruin it for the rest of us.
